Kiki, the Barred Rock hen, has been suffering from lung infection lately. We started treating her with Baytril, antibiotics, since Monday. She laid an egg today. She’s been spending a lot of time sitting in a nesting box lately, but not being able to lay eggs, and I was concerned that she might be egg bound. But it turned out that she wasn’t laying because she’s been suffering from respiratory disease. She actually laid a super tiny, yolk-less egg (quarter size) on Monday, just before taking her to the vet. So I knew she wasn’t egg bound at that point. She must have laid a full-size egg because she’s getting better.
